I'll be livestreaming to 200,000 people tonight. Join me.
Celebrating a spiritual giant and one of the 20th century's greatest religious leaders.
I hope you all had a great weekend: it was a newsy one in Israel, with a new government coming to power and the decade plus reign of ‘King Bibi’ coming to an end (for now). I’ll have thoughts on what it means for Israel as well as the United States a bit later in the week: there is lots to discuss, and no matter what happens, it will be a headline in the history books.
A programming note: I just wanted to let you know about an event I’m hosting tonight. It’s a television program celebrating the life and legacy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a religious leader and global religious icon. Many of you will be familiar with the Chabad movement that he led for nearly half a century. They established Jewish centers all over the world, from Bangkok to Berlin to Boston.
At a time when traditional religion can be inward looking and exclusive, the Rebbe’s modus operandi was the opposite: open, optimistic, and filled with joy. In an age of division, the Rebbe’s message was one of welcoming and inclusion. At a moment when many of us are concerned about anti-Semitism and prejudice, the Rebbe’s urging to be proud of who you are and that love conquers fear could not be more timely.
I have the honor of hosting this program with my friend and mentor Rabbi Dov Greenberg: we’ll be interviewing leaders, offering personal reflections, and enjoying musical performances.
300 Chabad Centers will be tuning in, and hundreds of thousands will be watching from all over the world. It would be a great honor to have you there.
